Hours

Monday-Friday: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Brief Screening Session

The purpose of the brief screening is to assess your current needs and what services are most appropriate (e.g., workshop, clinical skills class, group therapy, brief individual counseling, referral, etc.).

At the brief screening session you will complete some forms online through a secure portal and then meet with a therapist to explore your concerns, background information, and what you hope to gain from counseling. This process will take about 60 minutes, including paperwork.

If brief individual counseling is recommended, our staff will contact you as soon as possible to schedule an appointment with one of our staff counselors who is a good fit for your goals and matches your availability. This may or may not be the person you met with during the initial evaluation. There is no additional cost for counseling beyond the student fees you already pay. If our services are not a good fit for your needs, we will offer referrals to other campus resources or community providers.

Treatment

Treatment is tailored to your needs within a personalized care model. While your brief screening counselor will ask about many areas of your life, the focus will be on working with you toward your specific goals. Our job is to help you meet your goals both quickly and in ways that you can maintain after treatment ends. Recommendations may include workshops, classes, group therapy, brief individual therapy, medication referral, or other services both on and off campus.

Confidentiality

Information shared with a therapist is legally and ethically considered confidential and will not be shared with anyone including your family or any university office without your written permission or as required by law. Your counseling records are not part of your academic record.
