Student Health and Well-Being offers programs on a wide range of topics to help students develop skills, understand how to make safe and healthy decisions and gain knowledge to experience thriving well-being.

Alcohol

Although alcohol plays an important social role in many cultures, it can be dangerous if misused. For those who choose to drink, we offer the following tools to help you manage your relationship with alcohol.

College Behavior Profile (CBP)

A quick and confidential way to get personalized feedback on your alcohol and cannabis use. The CBP is provided by Missouri Partners in Prevention and was created with input from and designed by college students.

Well-Being Coaching

Meet with a Certified Wellness Coach to discuss reducing or eliminating your substance use in a supportive environment. Explore your use habits and develop personalized strategies. Our coaches will help you set and work towards realistic goals. Schedule an appointment in MU Connect (login required).

Behavioral Health Screening

Screens for symptoms of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, substance use disorders and a general well-being screening. Information about resources is offered based on your responses.

Party Safe

A short online training to learn ways to keep your party as safe as possible, especially if you will be consuming alcohol or other drugs.

Cannabis

Our goal is to help students make their best choices related to cannabis use by providing information based on recent research.

Understand Mizzou Policies

Mizzou is committed to creating a healthy and safe environment through a new in-person training program, Empowered. Empowered is a bystander intervention initiative created to promote community connectedness and civic engagement and empower students to get involved in situations where they can prevent, reduce or respond to harm. Empowered works to address multiple interconnected issues, including alcohol and other drug use, interpersonal violence and mental well-being.

Brief Substance Use Consultation

If cannabis use is getting in the way of your academic or social success, our coordinators are available to help you explore your use habits, consider both benefits and challenges associated with use, and if you decide you would like to make some changes, we can help you set realistic goals and work toward them. Schedule an appointment with a BASICS coordinator in MU Connect (login required) or call our office at 573-882-4634. There is no charge for consultations unless sanctioned by the Office of Accountability and Support.

Tobacco and Nicotine

Take the next step towards a healthier you. If you or someone you know uses tobacco or nicotine products, Mizzou has resources to build healthy habits and reduce or quit tobacco/nicotine. Even infrequent use can increase your risk of chronic illnesses. Take care of your health, explore resources and understand Mizzou’s policies.

Nicotine Cessation

Meet with our Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist to help you quit or decrease your use of tobacco and nicotine products. The Wellness Resource Center offers free individual coaching and nicotine replacement therapy. Appointments can be booked on MU Connect (login required).

Tobacco-Free Mizzou

Visit Tobacco-Free Mizzou for cessation resources that cater to the college student experience and understand Mizzou policies related to tobacco.  

Time for Change

Time for Change offers strategies and resources to reduce or quit cannabis and/or nicotine as well as current research on the impact of cannabis and/or nicotine and benefits of quitting. You can also connect with a Tobacco Treatment Specialist for online cessation support. 

Medical Support

The Student Health Center offers one-on-one visits with medical providers who can prescribe appropriate medication to support your action plan to quit. As with other medical visits, health insurance will be billed for the visit. Call 573-882-7481 to schedule an appointment. 

Sexual Health

Sometimes it can be tough to make choices about issues as personal as sex and relationships, but no matter what decisions you make, it is always important to gather information, evaluate your options and make informed decisions that works for you and your life.

On-demand information related to understanding options of contraception, how to prevent sexually transmitted infections and how to make healthy sexual decisions is available (login required).

Sexual Health Product Requests

Sexual health products are available to students at no cost. You can also order sexual health products online and pick up your order in the Student Health Center.

Student organizations, fraternities and sororities, Housing student staff, campus offices and other university-affiliated groups can place free bulk orders for sexual health products to distribute.
